How Do I Add a Buddy?

You can add new buddies in the following ways:

• Add the Buddies Manually

• Add Buddies from the Address Book

• Add from External Instant Messaging Network

To add buddies manually:

1. Click the down arrow next to Add Buddy icon from the instant messaging toolbar.

   The Add Buddy dialog appears.

2. Enter the email address in the Email address textbox.

3. Enter the alias for the buddy in the Alias textbox.

4. Select a group from the Group drop-down menu.

5. Click OK.

To add buddies from Address Book:

1. Click the down arrow next to Add Buddy icon from the Instant Messaging toolbar and choose Add From Address Book from the menu.

   The Add Buddy dialog appears.

2. Select the required Address Book from the list box.

3. Enter the first few characters of the name of the buddy. The list of entries that closely match the entered characters from the Address Book appear.

4. Enter the alias for the buddy in the Alias textbox.

5. Select the required buddy and click OK.

Add from External Instant Messaging Network:

1. Click the down arrow next to Add Buddy icon from the Instant Messaging toolbar and choose Add From External IM Network from the menu.

   The Add buddy from external network dialog appears.

2. Select the external IM Network from the 'Network' list.

3. Enter the user name.

4. Click Add.

Buddies once added to a Friends list are added to the Pending Authorization group until the buddies accept your request.
