How Do I Add an External Instant Messaging Account to Create Multi-network Messaging?

To create a multi-network instant messaging network, add an external IM account to Instant Messaging. You can chat with your buddies who are on the Facebook Chat instant messaging network.

Note - You must first have external instant messaging accounts set up prior to adding them to the Convergence UI.

To add your external IM networks through Convergence Instant Messaging, follow these steps:

1. Click the Show/Hide Manage Accounts Dialog icon in the Instant Messaging menu.
2. Select the icon for the external account you want to add in the Choose an IM account window.
3. If you have already logged into Facebook in the Convergence Social tab, you are automatically signed into the Facebook Chat external network.
4. Once you have added your external IM account, you are automatically signed into that network.

After you have added the external IM account, signing into that network happens automatically.
