How Do I Troubleshoot Voice and Video Call Errors?

Microphone/Camera Permissions:

I am using Convergence in a Chrome browser. When I first tried to make a voice/video call, I denied Convergence permission to use my microphone and camera. I'd like to make voice and video calls again, but I cannot get the microphone or camera to turn on.

If you deny Convergence the permission to use the microphone or camera, the Chrome browser will not ask again for these permissions. It adds Convergence to an exceptions list, disabling you from initiating or accepting voice and video calls. To fix this issue, remove "Convergence" from the exceptions list at chrome://settings/content.

Changing from Voice to Video Call:

In a group voice call, we decided to upgrade to a video call, but I don't have a camera.  I was disconnected from the voice call during the upgrade to the video call.

If you do not have a camera, you will not be able to participate in a video call.  If your group voice call upgrades to a video call, you will be disconnected.  You will also see the following error message, "You have not given permission to share your microphone/camera or another application might be using it.  See Online Help for details."

Screen Sharing:

Screen sharing does not work.

If you have not enabled screen capture in your web browser, you might see an error message.  Confirm that screen capture is enabled.  For Chrome, enter chrome://flags in your web browser address bar, and check "Enable screen capture support in getUserMedia()"

Note: Screen sharing is not supported on Firefox browsers.

Screen sharing is disabled in a chat message.

Screen sharing does not work in a chat message.  You must be in a voice or video call to enable screen sharing.
